For the past two weeks, we have studied pandas. We read informational texts about pandas, checked in on our "panda friend" at the San Diego Zoo on their Panda Cam every day, watched videos about pandas, and searched for answers to any remaining questions about pandas on the internet together. During this shared research time, we kept taking notes and stored them in our writing folders.
This week, students worked to complete their final writing portions about pandas in teams for each topic (life cycle, habitat, food, and physical features). Then we "jigsawed" and made new groups with one student from each topic team and made our presentation posters! Next week, we will take our learning a step further and work in teams to research, write about, and present on different animals per team! I can't wait to see what topics they choose. We can't wait to keep learning how to research answers to our questions, summarize information in our own words, and teach others about our topics. :)
